Our client, a growing Agricultural Seeds business requires a Trainee Production Agronomist. Hands on Agronomy role working closely with growers and the Research Team to ensure production volumes and quality are met. Great Career Opportunity.
Playing a significant role in all aspects of the production cycle from seeding through to harvest you will provide infield recommendations to growers with cutting edge agronomic advice to maximise yields.
You will also assist in the operation and execution of the small and large-scale trials program for new varieties of canola, corn and sorghum. This will include trial preparation, operational nature of planting, maintaining and harvest of small and large-scale research trials at various locations. Monitoring of growers crops and trial sites and regular collecting of data will be required. This data will then be analysed and interpreted to estimate yields, grain quality and planning of activities like desiccation of crops, wind rowing canola and harvesting.
This is a hands on role and requires the ability to operate a range of machinery and implements.
- Diploma / Degree in Agricultural Sciences is an advantage but we will also consider candidates currently studying or with hands on farm experience.
- Current manual drivers licence
- Passion for agriculture and previous experience in agricultural field work
- Strong organisational skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for learning and commitment to improving seed quality
- Willingness to get into the field and get your hands dirty
- Early career agronomists encouraged to apply
- Excellent computer skills and report writing ability are essential as is the ability to work in a team environment.
