Our client is a global leader in providing cutting edge viticultural varieties (table grapes). There is opportunity for an enthusiastic Viticultural Agronomist to join the Group and help growers in achieving maximum quality and yield (profitability) from their vineyards.
About You: You will be experienced in Viticultural agronomy under Australian conditions and also in conducting applied research trials with a passion for innovation in plant science and horticulture. You will have the ability to independently manage concurrent tasks. You will have the ability to work within a team environment and display strong communication and time management skills. Strong technical agronomy experience and excellent communication skills with growers and researchers alike.
The Viticultural Agronomist will accept the responsibility to: Coordinate and control all trials on the farms, undertaking/overseeing trials, gathering data, finalising reports and communication of results to internal departments. The work includes efficacy trials for new varieties, irrigation, nutrition, pruning, crop protection and harvesting techniques. The findings of these trials will be used to maximise plant growth rates/yield under different environmental conditions.
Coordinate the agronomy program for growers and implement findings for best practice which will be incorporated into the day to day operations of the growers vineyards. Conduct field days and forums to assist in grower relationships / dissemination of information.
Support production activities at the farm through visits and delivery of timely information; Maintain a professional network within government departments, agronomists, consultants and associations
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
A degree qualification in Ag science (viticulture, horticulture,) or equivalent;
Experience in conducting field research trials in viticulture / horticulture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present information to diverse groups;
A high degree of motivation, enthusiasm and drive.
Excellent time management skills
Technical aptitude and understanding of GPS, remote sensing and other technology. You must have the ability to work with growers, managers, internal agronomy team, external advisors and operating staff in a highly integrated business.
