Our Client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding agricultural research and consultancy business.
In this tropical location irrigated horticulture and cutting edge crop production technology combine to produce one of the most productive horticultural areas in Australia.
They are currently seeking a Technical Officer to set up and carry out applied field research in a range of vegetables, tree crops and sugar cane.
The work includes efficacy trials for new crop protection, nutrition, seeds, adjuvant and related agricultural products. You will be required to undertake trials in the field, greenhouse and/or controlled environment rooms, at the direction of the Regional Manager, in accordance with protocols agreed with the client. The Technical Officer is also responsible for the analysis of trial data and preparation of quality reports in a timely manner for clients.
The successful applicant will be:
Highly organised, motivated and committed person with a passion for agriculture.
Have a Diploma/Degree in Agricultural Science or related discipline
Experience in the area of field trial research would be a distinct advantage.
A practical person who enjoys outdoor work
Ability to utilise computer-based technology, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and statistical software- experience in GIS and GPS technologies would be advantageous
Ability to collect, store, analyse, interpret and report field-based technical data
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to liaise with a broad range of clients within the rural industry
Have a current drivers license
Salary package – commensurate with qualifications, experience and skills (includes fully maintained company motor vehicle, mobile phone, superannuation and annual leave loading)
Ideally located in the Atherton Tablelands.
