Our client is a private Agribusiness managing a diverse portfolio of hardwood timber plantations, hay production and cattle. They require a hands on Operations Supervisor to ensure the above enterprises meet their production goals on time and on budget. The incumbent must live on site in the Douglas Daly region and oversee regional operations.
The company manages over 45,000 hectares of land including 13,000 hectares of hardwood plantations managed primarily for timber, hay and cattle production for a blue chip long term institutional investor.
Key responsibilities are to maximise the timberland opportunities, including forestry estate management, management of silvicultural operations, supervision/training of forestry contractors, and fire prevention and suppression.
You will play an integral and important role in the region’s fire management activities, through the local Bushfires NT Volunteer Brigade.
You will strategically develop and implement whole of agro/forestry business plans and innovative best practice and leading industry initiatives.
Agribusiness responsibilities include the management of property hay production, logistics and cattle management activities, whilst maintaining close interaction with stakeholders.
Commercial activities that you will be involved in will be hay sales, and wood product marketing opportunities when commercial harvesting begins.
You will also be responsible for maintaining company health, safety and environmental standards with staff and contractors.
Regular reports to senior management on plantation monitoring, hay production, budgets, contractor performance / invoices, OH&S, environmental reports, cap ex.
Sound computer/ technical skills in map reading, navigation, and GPS usage are required. Current Drivers licence
