Our client is a Leading Agricultural production company with farms across 3 regions in the Northern territory. The Environmental Officer will ensure the environmental management system is implemented in all farms and develop a culture of environmental awareness with staff. You will drive the long term culture of the organisation to sustainable production methods and strive to ensure that the company meets and exceeds its environmental goals.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Assist the Management team in complying with current environmental legislation and / or regulations;
  • Complete all required environmental monitoring activities;
  • Lead and/or support environmental aspects of Projects (rehabilitation, technical environmental studies, water management, waste management and sedimentation); 
  • Respond to, investigate and report on environmental incidences,
  • Assist to improve and maintain company environmental management system to ensure it aligns with relevant quality and environmental standards; 
  • Adherence to safety practices and procedures; 
  • Identification of continuous improvement and efficiencies; 
  • Regular travel between company farms in various regions;
  • Work actively within Farms to create a strong HSE culture across all workers, including employees and contractors.
Essential knowledge and skills:
  • Cert IV or higher in Environment Management 
  • Minimum one year experience in field work, preferably in environmental monitoring
  • Strong safety focus
  • Current C class driver’s license
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and adapt to changing priorities,ability to work in a team and independently.
Desirable:
  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent 
  • Experience or background in horticulture/agriculture/ forestry
  • Current First Aid
