Our client is a Corporate Cattle Company with a number of large Pastoral properties and smaller seedstock properties with industry leading genetics of Bos indicus and crossbreed cattle.  They are in need of a Cattle Operations Manager responsible for managing this highly successful business overseeing the cattle production strategy and implementation plan. You will lead from the front  and work with multi-disciplinary teams across a number of locations to achieve desired outcomes
In this role you will be responsible for managing the breeding and feeding or the primary herd and trade cattle as required. This is a hands on role and requires someone with good leadership to drive the team, forward planning to meet production deadlines and strategic direction to maximise business efficiencies.     Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Devise and execute an effective cattle Production Strategy and Implementation Plan in alignment with company strategy.
  • Devise and execute an effective pasture and fodder crop program which will underpin & align operational profitability.
  • Implement above plans on time and on budget.
  • Staff Management of permanent and casual staff
  • Ensure adequate staff are available at required times and trained and skilled in areas to meet production goals.
  • Accurate record keeping of farm activities for company data and also compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Regular reports back to GM and Management team on production status and overall farm and station performance.
  • Implement the company EH&S plan and proactively mentor a culture of staff safety and environmental protection in a business that is focused on long term sustainability.
  Experience:
  • Five years with Beef production and supply chain development
  • Knowledge sharing with industry
  • Supply agreement negotiation
  • Budget development and accountability
