Our client manages one of the largest commercial horticultural operations in Western Australia. We are now searching for an Assistant Plantation Manager to join their professional team.
 
The scope of the position is to supervise a geographical area under the management of the plantation management team with a view to ensure that maintenance/production programs are carried out on time and to company standards. The role will be vital in ensuring that established plantations and existing projects meet company performance targets in terms of growth and production. Reporting to the Plantation Manager you will be involved in key maintenance, establishment, and operational aspects of the plantation.
  
Duties Include:
  • Performing manual duties as required in line with a hands on plantation role
  • Assist to ensure the optimum growth and survival of trees within the plantation
  • Assist with management of drip irrigation, fertigation scheduling and watering programs
  • Assist with management of pest control monitoring and control programs
  • Pruning and weed control
  • Supervision of contractors and plantation staff
  • Implement recommendations from the plantation inspections by the Plantation Manager
  • Operation of various machinery and implements
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of plantation plant and equipment
  • Assist with the introduction and implementation of best practice work activities and continuous improvement in the team
  • Ensure WHS and OH&S policies are adopted and adhered to.
  
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience as a Plantation Manager/Farm Hand/Supervisor in Agriculture/Horticulture or Forestry
  • Computing/administration skills
  • Knowledge and experience of agricultural production principles
  • Ability to supervise staff and itinerant seasonal labour
  • Experience in the operation and safe use of farm machinery
  • Applicants must be physically fit, prepared to work in hot conditions outdoors and be willing to learn all aspects of the position
  • Current Driver's Licence (Truck licence preferable).
